Designation Fats are a constant pollutant of domestic wastewater. Entering fat in the domestic does not affect concentrations of sewage treatment plants. But when we are talking about restaurants, canteens, cafes and other catering establishments, vegetable fats and animal products gets in the waste water in large quantities, which can not only eventually lead to blockage of sewer pipes, but the failure of the treatment plant, why can greatly affect the quality of water treatment. Fat, getting to treatment plant, inhibits the growth of microorganisms of the activated sludge. So, if you want to ensure a high quality of waste water from your cafe (restaurant, hotel, dining resort), the plant of a grease trap should be provided.
How to choose? Grease trap selection is based on the consumption of fat-containing waste water and in no way depends on the total water consumption of the object. Grease trap provides similar sump (SNIP 2.04.03-85, p.6.60), which retained impurities lighter than water. We assume that the water should be in the grease trap at least 12 minutes (ideally - 8 - 15 minutes) to a maximum of fat floated to the surface. Grease trap capacity is determined by the number of sinks (SNIP 2.04.01-85 *, Annex 2), or, if known exact flow l/s.
Assembling features Grease trap is always installed before mix of fat-containing waste water from washing dishes and domestic waste water from other sanitary appliances (requirement SNIP 2.04.01-85 *, paras. 15.2-15.3). Please also note that the grease trap is installed outside the building, as fats are rapidly decaying impurities (requirement SNIP 2.04.01-85 * p.19.6).
Recommendations for the use Before using the established grease trap is filled up to the top with clean water. Grease trap requires regular removal of detainees fats because when it is overflow fats will come to the biological wastewater treatment plant, which adversely affect the quality of cleaning. In order to grease trap accumulated in fewer pop-up impurities, do not pour grease down the sink out of the fryer, from frying pans, etc. - Anyway it will have to be removed from the grease trap.
